We want to share some exciting news with you.
We all know how useful senior credit cards can be. But did you know that the EBT card just got even more versatile? If you have a SNAP EBT or P-EBT Card, you could be saving up to 15% on your groceries with Amazon. It doesn't require a Prime Membership and depending on the total amount of your order, shipping is free. There's a wide range of products to choose from with options for just about every dietary need and taste bud.
Sound too good to be true? It's all real, we promise, and ready and available for you to take advantage.
Amazon is part of a pilot run by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) to accept SNAP EBT and P-EBT benefits online. The EBT card for seniors allows recipients of government assistance the ability to pay retailers directly for their purchases, similar to using a debit card.
Currently, Americans with a valid SNAP EBT or Pandemic EBT card can use their SNAP funds on Amazon. That is unless you live in Alaska, Hawaii, Louisiana, or Montana. If you live in one of those states, don't worry. Amazon is working with the USDA to expand coverage to more areas.
Ready to get started? Even for those less "technically inclined," the process is simple and straightforward.
First things first, you'll need an Amazon account in order to register your EBT card on Amazon. This doesn't mean you'll need a Prime account (more on this in a moment). Just a general free account will do. If you don't currently have an Amazon account, click here to sign-up.
Once you have your Amazon account set-up, you'll need to have your EBT card for seniors handy and then visit the EBT sign-up page here. You'll be prompted to enter your EBT card number after which it will be added to your account, ready for use. We told you it was simple!
When you make a purchase, you'll need to enter your EBT card pin number to pay for eligible items.
Let's just say that your options are plentiful. Amazon breaks it down like this:
Once you take a look at what's available, we think you'll be excited. Not only will you find your favorite brands, but you'll also discover many new ones. There are options for all types of dietary needs, from breakfast to dessert you're covered.
With SNAP EBT benefits you'll be able to purchase items on Amazon.com and Amazon Fresh. The Grocery and Gourmet Food category on Amazon features pantry staples, shelf-stable food, and household items, available nationwide. Amazon Fresh is similar to your typical grocery store, delivering perishable, shelf-stable and household products in everyday package sizes, available in select regions.
While Amazon Fresh is typically only for its Prime members, Amazon is making it available to customers who shop with a SNAP EBT card in eligible regions without Prime membership fees.
View some of the products that are SNAP EBT eligible here. You'll notice that all included items have "SNAP EBT Eligible" underneath the price.
